Blood Tests & Investigations

Investigations such as blood tests, ECGs and 24 hour blood pressure monitors are led by our nursing and phlebotomy team.

Blood tests can be booked through Pippo or by phoning the practice.

All blood tests must be ordered by a GP or Consultant. Please make an appointment with your GP to discuss your options before booking a blood test.

Patients under the age of 16 will be referred to a CHI hospital for bloods tests.

Public Out Patient Clinics

If you are attending a Public consultant clinic and require blood tests, the hospital phlebotomy unit will carry these out for you with the form your consultant provided.

Private Consultant Clinics

If you are attending a Private consultant clinic and require blood tests, they will give you a form to have them carried out in the private hospital.
If you decide not to attend the private hospital, then you may request them from the surgery here but we will require the following in advance:

The list of bloods requested from the Consultant at least 72hrs before your appointment, as some specialist blood tests can only be carried out in a hospital setting. If we have not received the required list the appointment with us will be cancelled. A new letter is required from your consultant every time they need bloods carried out - we cannot use historic letters.

Consultant bloods will be subject to a fee of €60 for all patients.
Phlebotomy for Private Consultants is not covered under the medical card contract.

Please note: Bloods Results can take up to 7 working days. More specialised tests can take longer so please take this into account when booking your blood test appointment.
